OUR STORY
The firm began when Mark Sealy and Paul Mazengarb launched Sealy Mazengarb & Associates in 1994. Their reputation for professionalism and customer service quickly attracted clients across Tasmania. Over time, the business expanded, new directors came on board, and dedicated offices were established in Launceston and Burnie.
Today, SMA Finance is operated by experienced finance professionals Peter Lovick (Launceston) and Peter Johnstone (Burnie). Together with their team, they bring a combined wealth of knowledge in consumer lending, equipment finance, commercial property finance, and home loans.

PETER LOVICK – DIRECTOR, LAUNCESTON OFFICE
With more than 30 years in banking and finance, Peter began his career with Ford Credit Australia, where he spent 14 years gaining extensive experience in operations, lending, and management. In 2003, he joined SMA Finance and established the Launceston office.
Peter provides finance for a wide range of purposes, helping clients from diverse backgrounds secure funding quickly and affordably. Known for his prompt, professional, and friendly approach, Peter remains focused on client satisfaction above all else.
PETER JOHNSTONE – DIRECTOR, BURNIE OFFICE
Peter Johnstone has spent more than 30 years in the finance industry, beginning in the motor sector as a leading business manager specialising in motor vehicle finance. Since opening SMA Finance’s Burnie office, Peter has built a strong reputation as a commercial, home loan, and equipment finance specialist.
He has developed lasting relationships with clients across industries such as mining, transport, forestry, agriculture, and aquaculture. Peter offers qualified advice and personalised solutions that allow his clients to focus on running their businesses with confidence. He holds a Certificate IV in Financial Services and is completing his Diploma of Financial Services.
SCOTT LIMBRICK – LENDING SPECIALIST, LAUNCESTON OFFICE
Scott brings over 50 years of experience in banking and finance, working for companies such as Esanda Finance and four years with Ansett Australia. Since joining SMA Finance in 2003, Scott has become a trusted expert in equipment, business, and motor vehicle lending, with a particular focus on chattel finance.
